This blog is something I have long wanted to do. Social media is fun, flashy and entertaining but you just can’t share the real nitty gritty content and information that parents need and want. You’ve asked, and here’s the answer! A Skillful Journey is dedicated to you, parents.
One assumption I maintain in this space is that all parents have the ultimate goal for their children to succeed. Success may look different but the common ground is that we want our children to succeed AND we are all doing our best to help them get there.
Here you will find real life strategies, how to’s, information and resources that I use personally as a Mother and as a seasoned Child and Youth Care Practitioner in the field of children’s mental health. What you acquire here, be it a new strategy, a mindset shift or a product, will support you with your goal for a successful child (and adult!) while nurturing key elements that impact their mental wellness and resilience; self awareness, positive relationships, healthy boundaries, growth mindset, self worth, adaptive coping strategies, emotional intelligence, self regulation and gratitude.
The landscape of parenting has changed. The playing field is vastly different then the one you and I grew up on. It’s overwhelming, messy and can feel really lonely and confusing. This space is one of community and connection. A space of non-judgement, sharing and acceptance. A space where you can show up as you are, take what you need and leave what you don’t.
